News: Disney promotes first Chinese NBA games

Jul. 28th, 2004 -- The Walt Disney corporation has found a novel way to promote the new Hong Kong Disneyland, opening sometime in 2005 or 2006. The company plans to promote the first ever NBA games to be held in China.

In October, the Houston Rockets and Sacramento Kings will play two games in Beijing and Shanghai. According to Disney, Hong Kong Disneyland will remain a close partner with the NBA as a way of bringing professional American basketball into China.

The promotion is part of a larger Disney effort to expand throughout the world, particularly in the Eastern Asia region. Both games will be broadcast live, the Shanghai game on October 14 and the Beijing game on October 16
