Posted at 1:13 AM EDT (0513 GMT) Aug. 3rd, 2004 -- Randy Baird is a Ohio business man who seeks to bring back Chippewa Park. The park closed back in 1978, and recent fires have burned down the hotel and ballroom. Baird claims there is not much more to preserve, but he strives to re-open the park. Baird remembers visiting the park as a child. He mostly remembers swimming in the lake and being able to see the bottom of the lake. It's his childhood memories that drive his passion to re-open the park. Mr. Baird has no other plans for the park other than to fix it up. In 1998, county voters rejected a .25% sales tax that would've helped raise $3.7 million dollars towards the park. There has been no major activity at the park since then. A few major companies wanted to turn the park into a amusement area, or more residential area, but none followed through. Mr. Baird hopes to follow through with the project, and bring back the park that filled his childhood with memories. Randy has felt he has reached an agreement to buy the lake within 3 or 4 months. He hopes things will work out, and he cran bring back the park. Read more at Cleveland.com You will need to enter your birthdate, zip code, and gender in order to enter the site.
