News: Putt-Putt celebrates 50 years

Posted at 2:19 PM EDT (1819 GMT)

Aug. 11th, 2004 -- Putt-Putt is a known name for mini golf and family fun. Today it celebrates 50 years of being in the amusement and family fun industry. Putt-Putt also plans on renovating their family fun centers to include: go-karts, laser tag, kiddie rides, batting cages, rock climbing, game rooms, a private party room, a snack bar, make-your-own stuffed animal and more.

"Putt-Putt is synonymous with family fun and has some of the highest name recognition of any entertainment company in the country," said Brent Smith, Putt-Putt's director of operations. "The new Putt-Putt Fun Center locations will be dynamic mini-amusement parks with multiple attractions for all members of the family. Our guests are thrilled about the expanded variety of attractions, our employees are excited about the new experience, and our franchisees are pleased with the expanded earning potential of the new image and the new attractions."

Putt-Putt looks forward to making the most out of mini golf. "We're taking Putt-Putt's original vision of family fun to the next level and anticipate even greater success in the next 50 years," said Smith.

Putt Putt is a chain, somewhat similar to Scandia and other family fun centers. So I think they are spread here and there.

I've never been a big fan of Putt-Putt. I prefer mini golf courses with the giant windmills and stuff, instead of elevation changes.

Putt-Putt used to have 4 locations in Toledo...now down to two. The North end has the go-karts and lazer tag. The South location has the arcade (used to be two levels). I used to have fun at those places, btu I prefer mini-golf to those. I was getting too good at putt-putt.
