News: Disney Parks attendance up over holidays

Jan. 5th, 2004 -- The raised terror alert level didn't stop families from visiting Walt Disney World or Disneyland.

Based on hotel occupancy trends, travel experts say Disney had a jump in attendance. Both Orlando and Anaheim experienced a sharp jump in hotel occupancy, while the rest of the nation's hotel occupancy rates were down by 2.5%. Experts say the Disney parks are the reason why Orlando and Anaheim bucked the trend.

Good to see this happening across the boards at all open parks. I hope the trend continues. It's interesting to see how this is reflected in their stocks.

Dips in attendance or per capita spending can hurt capital spending. That translates to fewer attractions. The economy was at it's lowest after 9/11, but it seems to have recovored somewhat.
