News: Bell's to open new drop ride

Posted at 12:49 PM EDT (1649 GMT)

Sep. 22nd, 2004 -- Bell's amusement park in Tulsa, Oklahoma began construction on a new Moser drop tower yesterday. The 141-foot tall Mind Melt should be open by the end of the month.

Once riders reach the apex of the 141-foot tall tower, they will be thrust downwards from 0 to 60 mph in just 1.1 seconds. Bell's amusement park hopes to have Mind Melt open in time for the Tulsa State Fair.

It's really weird to see a drop tower put in this late in the year, but Bell's could see a nice jump in attendance if they play their chips right. A drop tower is hard to find in Oklahoma, so it will draw people's attention and cash in on the fair crowds...similar to what SFKK does during the Kentucky State Fair.
