News: Knott's announces Screamin' Swing

Posted at 1:57 PM EDT (1757 GMT)

Oct. 1st, 2004 -- BUENA PARK, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 30, 2004--Bringing out the kid in all of us, Knott's Berry Farm's new Screamin' Swing will push you higher than mom or dad ever could!

Standing over 60 feet tall, this enormous swing takes eight passengers on the smoothest, most exciting ride of their lives. With a G-Force of over 4.0, riders are air-launched with a blast that sends them up 70 feet into the atmosphere. Traveling at a speed of 60 miles per hour, the 50-second ride may seem to last an eternity as you try and catch your breath before being safely delivered back to earth.

Screamin' Swing was designed by S & S Worldwide Inc., a leader in family thrill rides based in Logan, Utah, who also designed Knott's popular Supreme Scream. Screamin' Swing is an extra-charge amusement attraction and riders must be at least 48-inches tall.

Knott's Berry Farm is known worldwide for its exciting thrill rides and is owned and operated by Cedar Fair L.P., a publicly traded partnership that is listed for trading on The New York Stock Exchange under the symbol "FUN." In addition to Knott's Berry Farm, Cedar Fair owns and operates six other amusement parks and five water parks, and operates an eighth amusement park under a management contract.

For $5, I'll probably take a few rides. The people I've talked to who rode it yesterday took multiple rides because it was fun. I'd like to see some video of this thing in action.

It sounds so cool. $5 dollars isn't bad. An average price i guess.

It's funny because the press release came after the ride actually opened.

I want to take a trip out to KBF. Hopefully a park around me will get one.

I like how this ride looks. I'm sure we'll see some more parks getting these soon since it went up very fast and gives a park some immediate extra income. Hopefully though, we see some bigger versions that hold more people and they will be a regular flat ride included with park admission. Although $5 isn't a bad price, but it looks like something I'd want to ride over and over again.
