Posted at 1:28 PM EDT (1728 GMT)

Oct. 6th, 2004 -- A group of business leaders in North Carolina have formed a non-profit group to save the Maggie Valley theme park, Ghost Town in the Sky. The group is seeking around $70,000 to develop a plan to attract a buyer.

If a buyer doesn't surface, then the group syas they will try to get enough money to buy the park themselves. Their goal is to re-open the park by any means. Since Ghost Town's closing, many businesses have suffered.

Cool! I'm glad to see something finally happening with the park.

Although I know it wasn't anything special, I still hate to see any park go under.

I think the park should reopen. I have never been but if it reopens I am going. I think the park should fix up the way it looks from the road and start getting new rides from time to time to attract new business and I had this idea of the park giving some of its land to soco zoo and ghost town and the zoo becoming one intity and splitting profits. That would attract more people and get the animals bigger and better habitats. I think the group itself should buy the park and let the city run it so that regulations would never threaten the park and improvments could be made with the city of Maggie Valley tourism funds.

I'm glad they are trying to revive this park. I have been before and the park is so-so, but the location is awesome. Like the above poster said, I hate to see any park go. They maybe could be successful if they got another rollercoaster or something to attract people again.
