News: Holiday World reveals 2005 improvements

Posted at 1:45 PM EDT (1745 GMT)

Oct. 6th, 2004 -- Holiday World & Splashin' Safari have announced a $6.3 million expansion plan for next year. A second train for Raven, a larger wave pool and a larger version of the Round-Up are among the improvements.

The second train added to Raven will increase its capacity by 70%, which should alleviate long lines on semi-busy days. Roundhouse, a Hrubetz Round-Up will be replaced by a similar ride, the Dartron Zero Gravity which will be named Revolution. Revolution has a larger capacity, runs faster and will have a lighting package for nighttime operation.

Bahari is the name of the new wave pool which will replace the one they built in 1994. It is nearly twice the size of the old wave pool and includes water jets and fountains to enchance the fun.

A second train for Raven is long past-due. I remember long waits for that ride when the park wasn't that busy! They are definitely being smart on how to expand their park to help with the major spikes in attendance.

It never had two trains? That's odd. I guess they didn't think it would be that popular. At least they are getting one now.

This year seems to be upgrading the park to help it with the crowds which is cool.

They didn't have two trains because it is a short ride and when it was built, the park was still very small and I doubt they had any idea how big it has become.

I might have to plan a trip to this park next year. I don't live a super amount of time away. I know that there waterpark is awesome and their regular park has some great woodies.

The second train on Raven is a much needed addition.

I can't believe it never had a second train. Every coaster that I have ridden has 2 trains except kiddie coasters.

Great news!

I'm glad that the tragedy of last year hasn't caused them to stop expanding the park.

Cpdude: Raging Wolf Bobs, Silver Comet, Skyliner at Lakemont, and many other rides run with only one train. It's not that uncommon for small parks to do that. Heck, Phoenix and Twister at Knoebel's often run one train because the crowds don't warrant two.

I'm surprised to learn it only had one train on it. While they were a smaller park, I still think they would've chosen to get a second train just in case of a really busy day or if there were some problems with the first train, you could just use the other train in the meantime instead of having to close the ride completely. Seems like they're doing a nice expansion to better handle the rising number of guests they are getting every year.

Legend started with a single train as well. They just got the 2nd one two years ago. I was out there today for my last rides. If they run Raven as well as they do with a single train, then waits xhould be minimal with two.
