Posted at 5:48 PM EDT (2148 GMT)  Oct. 18th, 2004 -- Disneyland Paris has found itself in trouble financially, brought on by a tourism slump and a new park complex that barely draws in a third of the expected visitors. But now, Disneyland Paris is undergoing a period of growth and innovation, hoping to bring visitors back in record numbers.
The first part of the plan is to build new rides. There is something big being built at the park, rumored to be a Tower of Terror, although Disney hasn't confirmed the speculation. However, that may be just one of several new rides coming to the park in the next few years. What they are, how many there will be, or when they will open is unknown, but Disney has said each one will cost between $100 and $200 million.The second way to lure visitors is to make the park more appealing to Europeans. The second park complex, the Walt Disney Studios, is built on an American model, an idea that isn't resonating very well with Europeans. Furthermore, multi-language requirements at the attractions create very long lines for some languages, and much shorter lines for others. Although Disney hasn't addressed these issues yet, the park has introduced several themed days, and has cut prices dramatically.See Mercury News for more information.
