Oct. 21st, 2004 -- With the help of thousands of park guests and a supply of 30,000 pumpkins, Six Flags New England is attempting to break the Guinness World Record for "Most Lit Jack-O'-Lanterns." The town of Keene, New Hampshire, with 28,952 pumpkins, holds the current record.
Park guests and staff have been carving pumpkins since opening day of Six Flags New England's annual Fright Fest Halloween celebration. Thousands of the orange fruit, carved into funny, spooky and creepy creatures are on display every Friday, Saturday and Sunday in October. On Friday, October 29, all the carved Jack-O'-Lanterns will be lit with candles provided by presenting partner Yankee Candle, counted and documented for the official Guinness World Record attempt. Until then, guests, who can make a $2 charitable donation for their chance to be part of history, will be carving away. "We'll be carving until the wee hours of the morning," said park vice president and general manager, Ron Sevart. "Guests, and our staff, are having a great time carving creative pumpkins and the jack-o'-lantern trail looks amazing." The theme park is open Fridays from 5-10 p.m., Saturdays from 12-10 p.m. and Sundays from 12-9 p.m. Six Flags is also open on Columbus Day, Monday, October 11th from 12-9 p.m. For more information on Fright Fest and the Guinness World Record attempt presented by Yankee Candle, please visit http://www.sixflags.com. Online tickets are available at the discounted price of $32.99.

^ Yeah, sounds really cool..lol
SFNE should go break another record, or at least try and make some other accomplishment. like...
-improving the park
-building some awesometastical rides.
-painting rides.
but pumpkins are cool too! ;-)

I really think they should be focusing on something more important. Not many people I know would go somewhere because it once had the most lit Jack-O-Lanterns

^haha, I don't blame you! lol
The only way I'de go, would be if I could get to SFNE again, and then just conveniently see the pumpkins. But especially with the GM leaving, they need to focus on some other stuff!!
But 30,000 pumpkins is alot, and I guess it would be interesting to see them all lit up, and if I was there, I would definitely watch the lighting. But I would never go just for the pumpkins..

That is cool. I wonder how long it is going to take to light all those pumpkins?

Yeah, I am wondering the same question. 30,000 is a lot to light up.

Well, I'm sure that on Friday, they will be able to light them all, since they were able to get that many carved, I'm positive they will have people helping light them, as well. Maybe they will have a bunch of people helping out, or maybe let guests at the park light one each. Just a thought. I hope there are some pictures of this somewhere. It would be interesting to see!
