This is pretty sad. I guess this means all f the LEGO structures will be leaving the park. I really wanted to go when the one in California first opened but never got there.

I have visited the Legoland in California and in London with my kids...they are excellent parks for kids, the best I have ever visited...even topping Disneyworld.
I doubt the parks will disappear, they are just too good. The press release states that there may be a transfer of ownership to an investment company owned by the Kristiansen family, descendants of Lego's founder, Ole Kirk Christiansen.
I hope that this is what happens.

I knew that there was one in California, but I didn't know it was in San Diego!! This is sad. I didn't have one clue that the company wasn't doing so good. I just hope these parks don't go to ruin.
stuggling? don't you mean struggling?

I can't wait to visit Legoland California, hopefully this winter. I just hope someone picks up the parks and keeps them the way they are. Six Flags is in no shape to buy them, Cedar Fair probably won't touch them....could Anheuser-Busch buy them? It might be a smart investment if they can keep the Lego license.

This is sad. I really wanted to go to Lego land when i was little. I never knew they have 4 locations. I knew about the one in SD, but not the other 3.

Lego isn't as popular now with computers and videogames, so it was only a matter of time before they got in financial troubles. Hopefully the parks with stay as is.

I have never been there before but I saw a show that focused on many of the Californian amusement parks. It looked really nice and hopefully it can continue on as it is. It would be a shame for it not to.

I wouldn't say Lego's aren't popular because of video games, I'd say they've lots their popularity once they left the tried and true formula of having castle, pirate, space, and town sets. Once they started doing licensing of stuff like Harry Potter, Spiderman, and Star Wars, it all went to hell. They could have done both and been fine, but now they're just starting to bring back castle stuff.
I also attribute it to the sets being fewer and fewer peices and more special pieces that don't give you the feeling of building some complicated thing. When you can build a massive lego castle with less than 100 pcs, there's issues.
