News: Bushkill Park begins recovery from flood

Posted at 6:37 PM EDT (2237 GMT)

Oct. 24th, 2004 -- Bushkill Park, a small family amusement park in Northeastern Pennsylvania, is beginning the process of recovering from a flood that resulted from rains with Hurricane Ivan. Water Lines suggest the waters rose to 8 to 10 feet, destroying rides and pavilions in the park.

The storm is estimated to have cost the park no less than $400,000 in damages. The park has only $100,000 in flood insurance, so they will apply for a small business loan. Many rides, including the park's Pretzel dark ride was completely destroyed. The 102-year-old park could reopen next year if everything goes smoothly. They also need help from volunteers to help with clean-up.

The process is gonna take some time. My dad is still in Florida with his job. He has almost been there two months. He has to go check out the damage from the hurricanes at people houses.

Wow that sucks. Hopefully they can get everything cleaned up from the rain. But I can't see it being an easy job.
