News: Seats still up for first SB rides

Posted at 12:10 AM EST (0510 GMT)

Dec. 3rd, 2004 -- Last month, Knott's auctioned off 60 seats on the first two trains to leave Silver Bullet, the park's new coaster opening Dec. 7. All 28 seats on the first train were bid on, but only 24 on the second, leaving eight seats open. Rather then attempt to auction off these remaining seats, Knott's is selling them for $100 each.

Among the 52 people who did manage to successfully bid on seats during the auction, bids ranged from the minimum of $100 to three people who bid $500 per seat. Proceeds from the event will go to the Speech and Language Development Center.

To find out more or to purchase one of the remaining seats, visit the event website.

I guess this can't be too surprising since an inverted coaster isn't considered a really big deal since they have been around for so long and Batman:The Ride has been at nearby SFMM for about a decade now. Xcelerator was more of a showstopper and drew more interest since it was a first of a kind and had more impressive stats to those who would place a hefty bid to ride a coaster.

I would do it for $100. Thats barely more than what the admission and all the extras you get with it would cost, plus you are helping a charity out.

I would bid only because its going to charity. Other then that I woundn't care if I was the 1st person to ride it or not. As long as I get a chance to go on it.

I'd be pissed if I were one of the $500 bidders. If I paid that kind of scratch, and now they're just selling them for $100 a piece? That's just wrong!

The way these work is that the highest bidders get the first seats (starting from the front row toward the back). The lowest bidder will get a seat on the last row of the 2nd train.

The $100 seats are probably on the 2nd train. So that isn't anything to really be pissed about.
