News: Accident at Disneyland parade

Posted at 5:24 PM EST (2224 GMT)

Dec. 28th, 2004 -- As the Christmas Fantasy Parade at Disneyland wound to a close last night, an Aladdin float drifted out of line and hit four spectators.

According to Anaheim fire Capt. Jamie Hirsch, the float turned instead of going straight, causing a fake piece of carpet to collide with the four people. Three of the spectators received minor injuries and were treated at the scene. A fourth guest was knocked unconscious and taken to a nearby hospital.

Though the precise cause of the accident is unknown, many suspect that the wet ground, caused by a powerful storm that struck California yesterday, may be to blame.

This shows how float drivers should be more careful, and the route should be inspected prior to the parade.

I thought that they ride on rails. Unless that is only at Disneyworld not Disneyland.

WDW's floats are controlled via inbedded sensors located under the pavement, the floats follows the path of sensors- the driver on board regulates speed.

Im not sure how DL does theirs, probably just a driver.

Is it just me or are alot of people getting hurt recently at the "Happeist Place on Earth"? Walt is turning in his cryo chamber right now.

Is it just me, or have all Disney parks suddenly become accident-prone?

It seems to be a common occurence at Disneyland more than anywhere else, Disney corp should fire the entire management team at DLR and put in some true Disney Managers.

They have huge parks so in proportion this could be normal, or just bad luck happening all at once.

Man, That sucks. I think if I were to end up at a disney land parade, something like this would most likely happen near me.
