Finance: Busch Gardens Tampa raises prices

Posted at 2:03 PM EST (1903 GMT)

Jan. 4th, 2005 -- Busch Gardens Tampa raised admission prices by $2 on Monday. The increase keeps admission prices lower than the Orlando parks. However, officials say the raised the price for the Tampa market, not Orlando's.

One-day admission is $55.95 for Busch Gardens Tampa, about $5 less than their Orlando theme park competitors. The park also raised the "fun card" (cheapest annual pass) price from $59.95 to $61.95. Park officials hope to cash in on the opening of SheiKra, which opens in May.

Oh, so Busch is lower than the others. Trying to get the families going there, eh? While that is pretty smart, it always doesn't work.

That's it---soak the locals and let the rest of us in cheaper. That has to be the most backward approach in amusement park history-----Good Luck with that Bushc Gardens!!!!

Not competing with the Orlando parks is complete BS. Thats exactly why they raised the prices.

Geez, the Florida parks are expensive! I thought paying $40-45 for a park was high (although I usually get a season pass or multiday visit (CP Ride & Slide). $55-60 is just ridiculous. My friend and I are talking about possibly going to Florida in 2006. I better make sure I got plenty of room on my credit cards.
