The 1955 Allen Herschell carousel that used to please patrons at Dollywood is now on ebay. The carousel is being sold by the Delaware River and Bay Authority, operators of the Cape May-Lewes Ferry, which takes passengers from Cape May, N.J., to Lewes, Del. The ferry used to have one and two hour waits during the summer, but now that those waits have decreased there is no need for the carousel anymore.
The carousel seats 28 passengers, and has 20 jumper horses and 2 chariots. It is currently dismantled in a warehouse, and was appraised for $40,000. The owners are hoping to get at least that much on ebay.
