News: Disneyland Paris confirms new rides

Posted at 3:52 PM EST (2052 GMT)

Jan. 17th, 2005 -- Over the next three years, Disneyland Paris will add several new attractions at a total cost of $315 million. A new attraction will open every year from now until 2008.

This year, Disneyland Paris will renovate Space Mountain with a new story and effects. Space Mountain: Mission 2 will open again in April. In 2006 the park will add a new ride called Buzz Lightyear’s Laser Blast.

The next two attractions go to the Walt Disney Studios park. In 2007, an attraction called Toon Studios will open. The widely-speculated Tower of Terror drop ride is expected to open in 2008.

Hmm. Space Mountain will have a new story and effects. Will it count as a different ride? The ride experience may be different, but it will be the same track layout.

As for the Tower of Terror: It's really popular in Florida. DCA added theirs, so the other parks following that lead is no surprise.

"315 million" geez, did I read that right? It's hard to believe a park would spend that much money in such a relatively short time span. Wasn't it not that long ago that Disneyland Paris wasn't doing very well?
