News: 2004 a good year for Legoland

Posted at 5:33 PM EST (2233 GMT)

Jan. 28th, 2005 -- After recent years of little growth, Legoland California saw its revenue and visitor numbers skyrocket during 2004. Attendance increased 9 percent from 1.3 million to 1.42 million visitors, and revenue rose by 11 percent. Legoland attributes the increases to 5 new attractions and new restaurants that opened last year, as well as special privileges for annual pass holders.

In addition to announcing the park's performance last year, Legoland officials also announced three new attractions. The first is a new skyline of New York City, including a Lego replica of Freedom Tower, to be the tallest Lego building in the world. The skyline opens March 11, followed by Knight's Tournament on Memorial Day, a ride consisting of seats at the end of six twisting robotic arms. The park will open a mini-golf course during the summer.

They have had some difficulties in the past, but this looks good. I thought they were selling though. I hope they do not. It's like amusement park training at Legoland. It gets the wee ones ready for Magic Mountain and Cedar Point.
