News: Disney parks ready for a big year

Feb. 1st, 2005 -- Starting in May, Disney properties in California, Florida, Japan and France will all celebrate the 50th anniversary of the opening of Disneyland, the first Disney theme park.

Major new attractions will debut, including a Buzz Lightyear-themed Interactive dark ride at Disneyland, Raging Spirits, a $68 million roller coaster, will open at Tokyo DisneySea. A new musical fireworks show, modeled after Illuminations at EPCOT, will open at Disneyland Paris.

Walt Disney World will feature many new attractions from other parks, such as Soarin' over California, Cinderellabration, Lights!, Motors, Action! extreme stunt show from Paris, and a musical from Tokyo. The year ends with a bang for the company as Hong Kong Disneyland is expected to open on September 12th.
