Industry Announcements: SFOG announces Skull Island

Posted at 4:20 PM EST (2120 GMT)

Feb. 3rd, 2005 -- Six Flags Over Georgia announced Skull Island on Feb. 3.

The one-acre water play area will be highlighted by a tipping water bucket 66 feet above ground "designed to look like a pirate skull." It will top every few minutes, soaking guests below with more than 1,000 gallons of water.

Another bucket, 6 feet high, will spill 750 gallons of water on guests. A 50-foot-high water geyser will spout water randomly.

Hundreds of water wheels, buckets, fountains and sprayers are located in the structure. Skull Island will have six water slides, ranging from 6 feet to 42 feet tall.

Skull Island will open Memorial Day weekend. Admission to Six Flags Over Georgia will include admission to Skull Island.

Umm... a 66 foot tall bucket... icant be right.. as it would take way to much water to fill.. and to dump a 66 foot deep bucket will kill anyone in its way..

maybe they mean to say the bucket will top from 66 feet in the air?...

Odd, SFOG dosent have an in-park waterpark, they have White Water, but it's down the road....this will look out of place.

Yah, Its suppose to be a 66 foot tall bucket. SFFT has one, it called the Texas Tree House or something like that. I think I am talking about Sea World or what ever. But its suppose to be 66 feet off the ground. Its pretty cool to stand under all that water coming down. It does seem weird to have it in the park when they have White Water down the road from SFOG. Maybe they are trying to expand that area and maybe move all the stuff there. i have no idea.
