News: SFNE partially approved for three rides

Posted at 5:03 PM EST (2203 GMT)

Feb. 3rd, 2005 -- The Typhoon Waterslide, which stands at 39 feet tall, requires no more approval after it was approved by the Agawam planning board. The board also approved site plans for the spinning coaster and Slingshot rides.

The Spinning coaster requires additional approval from the Conservation Commission. The Slingshot requires approval from the Board of Appeals because it is taller than the 45-foot tall maximum height variance for amusement park rides.

Well, it says "spinning coaster", is that a spinning wild mouse coaster similar to the Reverchon model that SFGAm got last year? That could be built in about a month or so, maybe just slightly longer. Either way, I imagine it's a small coaster if it also doesn't break that 45 foot mark for height variances, so it probably wouldn't take long to construct and have it set and ready to open.
