Posted at 8:08 PM EST (0108 GMT) Feb. 16th, 2005 -- The controversy over Taser stun guns has spread to theme parks. Last October, 45-year-old Christopher Traub, who suffers from a disability, visited Universal Orlando with his family and was shot by a security officer with a Taser gun, causing several injuries. Traub says he is considering legal action against the park.
Traub says he was in line with his son, trying to reason with an off duty police officer working as a park security guard, who was trying to throw his son out of the park. Traub then claims the officer shot him with a Taser, which threw him into a drink stand and gave him several cuts on his head. Universal, which often hires off duty police officers as security patrols, says it has no intention of changing its policy regarding Tasers. The Orlando Police Department called the action legal and will not take any action against the officer. Visit Florida Today for more.

After reading this, why would the officer shoot the guy? He posed no threat according to the article. But since it was HHN, maybe the officed thought he posed a threat since it's so dark....

He could've been using obscene language, news articles don't tell you everything you know.
Plus we don't know what his son was doing.

I doubt this is telling the whole side of the story. The man was most likely acting much worse then described, and I don't see any problem with using a taser.

Still, though, it seems as though the guy couldn't have done much to hurt the officer. Using obscene language isn't grounds for shooting someone with electified metal barbs.

Kind of an odd coincidence. The Chicago police recently had some controversy after shocking a 14 year old kid who posed a threat to officers. Before anyone jumps to conclusions and say he was only 14, he was also 6'2" and about 230lbs. So the kid was knocked out and suffered some sort of heart problem because of it. He's not in a life threatening condition any longer.
As for this incident, I have a strong feeling that everything isn't beiing covered. I really don't see a security guard who is also a police officer using a taser unneccisarily especially at a park in front of so many people if it wasn't justified.

Articles like this only tell 1 side of the story. They make it as the person did nothing wrong. When we haven't heard the other side of the story so.
