News: Waldameer Park to get spinning coaster

Posted at 2:01 PM EST (1901 GMT)

Jan. 15th, 2004 --  ThrillNetwork's Bryan Wood talked to Waldameer Park today and found out that their new attraction will be a Maurer-Sohne Spinning Coaster.

The information desk didn't know anything beyond the fact that it was a Spinning Roller Coaster. This will be the most expensive attraction that Waldameer Park has installed in its 108-year history.

Stay tuned to ThrillNetwork.com for more details.

UPDATE: I have received confirmation that this ride will indeed be a Maurer-Sohne Spinning Coaster 2000. The ride is 51 feet tall, 1395 feet long, and will reach speeds of 38 mph along its twisted track, which reaches bankings of 90 degrees.

A contest will be held at a later time to name the ride.

The lady that answered the phone didn't know ANYTHING besides the fact that it was a spinning coaster. Hopefully, we'll find out more soon.
