Site Announcements: The Point Online Receives New Look

Posted at 10:32 PM EST (0332 GMT)

Feb. 21st, 2005 -- A popular Cedar Point Amusement Park Fan Site, The Point Online recently underwent a face-lift. The site launched Version 4, which contains a new look, more information, and more photos on the popular summertime resort.

The new version comes as the site recently received a new owner. In December, a private investor purchased the site as the previous owner prepares to attend West Point Military Academy. The new owner made Mike, 17, the Executive Editor of the site, who created the new version.

Version 4 contains a wide variety of information for The Point Online. The newest section of the site contains Editorials from experienced park-goers who know their way around Cedar Point along with the latest rumors of what we may be seeing at Cedar Point in the upcoming years.

By far, the biggest update is of the Photo Galleries and the Midway Section. Many of our popular galleries, such as our Top Thrill Dragster Gallery, received brand-new, never before seen photos. The Midway Section now has information on everything you see on the Midways. From the food stands to the shops to the thrilling coasters, we have information and photos of it.

“It is absolutely amazing that we can launch a new version of the site in the middle of winter”, said Mike, Executive Editor, “We made sure we took photos of virtually everything at the park this past summer to make sure this would be possible.”

The Point Online is not the only site with something new. CPforums.com was added to the site, which is home to The Point Online’s popular forums. Bryan, 15 this Wednesday, worked on giving the forum a little change and worked with our Photo Editor, Jason, to create a new logo. Jason, 16, took many of the photos on the site and will continue to take even more this summer.

Advertisements are no more on The Point Online. The site decided that they hated having a banner ad make noises and flash, so they abolished them.

“We are not in this for the money”, said Mike, “If we were, we wouldn’t be running a Cedar Point fan site”.

The Point Online now contains over 1,200 pages, not including the forums; making it one of the largest Cedar Point Fan Sites on the Internet.

I rarely ever check any other coaster/park sites outside of Thrillnetwork other than Screamscape and occassionaly Thrillride. But since this site sounds pretty cool and very in depth, I'll defintely check it out sometime soon especially in the future when the park has strong rumors of a new ride or coasster or is actually set to get one.
