Industry Announcements: New spinning coaster for SF New England

Posted at 1:03 PM EST (1803 GMT)

Feb. 23rd, 2005 -- Six Flags New England is opening not one, but two new coasters in 2005 - one wet and one wild! The two new family thrill rides include Mr. Six’s Pandemonium, the first ever coaster inspired by the fun loving dance moves of Six Flags’ popular ambassador of fun, Mr. Six; and Typhoon, a cutting-edge water coaster powered by exclusive “Rocket Booster” technology.

“The two coasters we’re creating offer incredibly unique experiences designed to be shared with family and friends,” said Mark Kane, Six Flags New England vice president and general manager. “Their selection, specifically for this park, continues our ongoing commitment to providing excellent guest service and a promise of good times for our visitors.”

Dancing five stories above the ground, Mr. Six’s Pandemonium will take park Guests on an all-new ride experience creating a new spin on the typical roller coaster. Face-to-face in individual 4-person cars, Guests will enjoy more than a quarter mile of totally unique fun, shared with family and friends. This roller coaster spins like a top while moving up and down through hairpin turns and plummeting spirals. Each ride that Guests take on Mr. Six’s Pandemonium will be different, just like the master of playtime himself. No other coaster will leave you dizzy with laughter like Mr. Six’s Pandemonium!

Making a huge splash at Hurricane Harbor, Typhoon will offer park goers a unique thrill only to be experienced at Hurricane Harbor. Typhoon offers an extreme 3-person rafting experience. The water coaster’s rocket propelled water and conveyer belts blast riders though a serpentine series of high bank turns, enclosed tunnels and up hill climbs at racing speeds. Typhoon’s technology includes higher and faster uphill sections than any existing water coaster in the country. The thrill of a traditional coaster gets “all wet” with the 2005 debut of Typhoon!

“When we considered adding two new coasters to Six Flags New England’s already spectacular line-up, we knew we had to create something as grand and legendary as the park itself, so we called in the expert on family fun, Mr. Six,” said Mark Kane, Six Flags New England vice president and general manager. “His fun-loving style and wild dance moves provided the perfect inspiration for Mr. Six’s Pandemonium.”

“The Typhoon water coaster is also a perfect fit for our park,” Kane added. “Hurricane Harbor is by far the biggest and most popular water park in New England and we continue to make it even better. The new water coaster technology employed by Typhoon offers our patrons an action packed thrill ride that also beats the summer heat!”

Mr. Six’s Pandemonium will debut in early Spring 2005 and Typhoon will make its debut with the opening of the 2005 season at Hurricane Harbor. Six Flags New England opens for the 2005 season on April 16.

Twice the fun for the price of one, Six Flags New England and Hurricane Harbor are the leaders in family Playtime all the time! Don’t miss the best value around, purchase your 2005 season pass today and prepare double the fun in 2005! For more information visit SixFlags.com<

Dang! Did you see that water coaster! It does look like a real coaster with the hills like it has. That's going to be one site.

Spinning coasters sure are fun. Though, I don't think putting Mr. Six in the name was a good idea. I guess they could always take it out easily. I also do have to say that the logo is sweet. Simple yet satisfying!

I hate SFNE so much... The the hell kind of name is that... in 2 years everyones going to be all "WTF is a Mr. Six"

and its only one coaster... not 2... water slides are not coasters........

In a couple of years they can simply call it Pandemonium. What exactly is the theme of the North End anyway?

I know my Six Flags New England and they just wiped out the biggest foodcourt in the park. Typhoon will just be going over the parking lot it seems like. I would wipe out any food court and parking lot for a new coaster!!

P.S. The theme of the North End is "its the only place we have more room to build, so everything will be random." There's no theme at all. You have Cyclone, Timewarp, Flashback, Bugs Bunny Land, Skyride, Blizzard River

This has to be the dumbest idea ever. I hope this coaster never sees a single rider.

LOL That themeing is hilarous. Dancing Mr. Six's. I'd sort of rather see the typical Six Flags no themeing.

Hm.. I think the coaster looks dumb, and the master blaster looks sweet (it is a master balster right?)/ They shouldn't of added this to NE they should've put it at a park that actually needs it (SFFT, SFDL, etc.)

The coaster is a great idea for SFNE. They don't have a Mine Train or an in-the-dark coaster--despite what their website tells you. Mind you, they do have Poison Ivy and Thunderbolt. They needed another REAL family coaster. Shame they can't get rid of Dark Night. Then they would have an excellent ride collection. Even their boomerang and SLC are better than all the rest!

I like the look of the coaster, I haven't been on one of these types of spinning coasters, just the other type.

The name will probably only last a couple seasons.

Then it will just be Pandemonium going forward I'm sure.

I have only ridden the Reverchons. They are very nice, they can get a little rough if you aren't packed in with 4 people but they are good rides. Anyone ride the Gerstlauers??

The theming is a little bizarre, but it will work at least a few years. I think they should run with the Mr. Six stuff as long as they can. It's really been the only positive thing for Six Flags in the last few years.

The name might sound a little stupid by having "Mr. Six" in the name of the coaster but regardless it looks like a cool coaster. I think the watercoaster typhoon seems to be a cool coaster for them. So despite a silly name for the spinning coaster, I think that these two coasters are a nice addition for the park.
