Offbeat: Darth Vader meets Mickey Mouse

Feb. 24th, 2005 -- Each weekend from May 20 to June 12, Disney will merge with the Star Wars universe at Disney-MGM studios to commemorate the third Star Wars prequel, which opens May 19. The events will be centered around Star Tours, the park's Star Wars-themed simulator.

During the celebration, costumed characters from the films will join the Disney personalities roaming around the park. Members of the movies' cast and crew will also be giving talks at the park's ABC Theater.

Other events include a "Jedi Training Academy" where visitors can practice their lightsaber skills and shops selling Star Wars merchandise, including some specifically created for the festivities. All activities are free with admission to the park.
