News: Townships agree to extend sewer line

Posted at 1:32 PM EST (1832 GMT)

Mar. 10th, 2005 -- Muskegon and Dalton Townships have finally agreed on a plan which would extend sanitary sewer lines into both townships.

In addition, Muskegon Township has passed a resolution which would ask the Muskegon County Department of Public Works to issue $11 million in municipal bonds to fund water lines into that area and north of Michigan's Adventure Amusement Park, thereby encouraging growth.

Expanding the water and sewer lines in the area have been a sticking point for the park's expansion, and Cedar Fair officials have indicated that the park will not grow unless they have expanded those services in the area.

I hope this does it. It was a good idea to wait until it was right. Now go!

It's almost boring hearing about this every few months over and over again for the last couple years or so. Hopefully this will finally settle the difference between the town and Cedar Fair. I find it amusing when small towns try to play tough with big chains. A lot of these towns and small cities are the ones who can reap major benefits from having a sucessful tourism magnet such as an amusement park so why give them a hard time. For an example of a small town with a big tourism magnet, just imagine Sandusky Ohio without Cedar Point. Half that town is hotels, motels, and restaurants and other tourism sites there because of all the people who go there for Cedar Point.
