News: Hersheypark to do Springtime in the Park

Mar. 20th, 2005 -- ddd a iavia Press ReleaseIf winter's cold temperatures have kept you indoors, make plans now to get out and enjoy "Springtime in the Park." Hersheypark, the world-class entertainment park themed on family fun in Hershey, PA, will open its gates for a delightful pay-as-you-go weekend April 9 and 10. On Saturday, the Park will be open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Guests can enter the Park free of charge and purchase tickets for any of the more than 35 rides (including four roller coasters) that are open for the event. Individual tickets are available for $.75; strips of 20 are $14. In addition, "Ride All Day" Wristbands can be purchased for $19. (a parking fee is charged)

On Sunday, April 10, guests can enjoy The 5th Annual Springtime Stroller Parade. Leading the parade are the famous Hershey's product characters. Parents or relatives can enter a child, ages 4 and younger, in a decorated stroller and be eligible to win prizes. Categories for judging are: "Most HERSHEY-Like," "Most Springlike," "Most Patriotic," and

"Judges' Choice."

A wide variety of games, shops, and food stands, will be open. Also included for the weekend is an array of entertainment for the whole family to enjoy. "Our Friends From the Sea," a marine mammal presentation in the Hersheypark Aquatheatre, will delight guests both days. In addition, the Hersheypark Amphitheatre will host two free shows during Springtime in the Park, "Travelin' Max," a high-energy one-man show on Saturday, April 9; and Chris Linn Magical Comedy on Sunday, April 10.

ZOOAMERICA North American Wildlife Park will be open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. both days. (admission fee charged).

The fun continues at Hershey's Chocolate World visitors center, Hershey Museum and Hershey Gardens, which also are open. The Hotel Hershey and The Hershey Lodge offer a wide array of accommodations. Guests to either property enjoy free admission to Hershey Museum or Hershey Gardens.

Hopefully I can make Springtime in the Park this year. The best thing about it is Storm Runner is open! And there will probably almost no one there! The bad thing is that Lightining Racer and Wildcat are not open, along with the rest of Midway America.

Hershey's pay per ride/wristband events are always GREAT! There is NEVER anyone there. The best is the Thursday night Halloween events. How's 90 minutes on the Great Bear without leaving my seat sound. (and about an hour of that was just me, by myself) SHHHHH! Don't tell anyone!
