News: Disney cracks down on unauthorized tours

Posted at 6:27 PM EST (2327 GMT)

Mar. 25th, 2005 -- Jim Hill, a Disney fan, has been giving unofficial tours of Disneyland for the past several years until the park cracked down on his enterprise last week and banned him from the property.

Charging $25 per person for each tour, Hill presented pieces of information, some of which don't fit in with the park's family-friendly image. Hill claims that Disneyland is trying to present a view of the park which only fits it's own interests.

Disney responded to the banning, saying that as he was not a park cast member, he was not authorized to give tours. Hill states he will continue giving tours of American amusement parks, including Disney establishments.

I don't think he was banned. I've read all 3 articles about this on his website and none of them say he was banned. We was asked to leave the park and he was escorted out, but he never once said he was banned (I wouldn't be surprised if he is though, I'm just going off of the information provided).

As for the tour being stopped? I'm surprised it wasn't done sooner considering all of the things he has said on his website. He did say that a CD of his tour is being made and will be available to purchase in the near future, so you can still catch all the stories.

This guy gives tons of information to the Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World, so I'm sure these tours would have been very informative. I can see why Disney would object to them though.

Maybe Disney just wants a cut of his $25 a head. I am sure they could work it out. Maybe a 90/10 deal. No, wait, Disney would want 95%.

Jim Hill is an idiot that does nothing but pioneer negative talk and attitude towards Disney and its affiliates. It's a damn shame he got banned from the AP party for the 50th. Oh wait, no it's not. The problem isn't giving the tours, the problem is that he has never garnered permission from the company to do so, has unsuspecting guests get caught up in his tour in mistake of the Walt's Footsteps tour, and talks trash on DISNEY property. He's an idiot, and I hope they sue his idiot self for this "CD tour". *incoherent swearing*...

I'm not sure of what the grounds would be for litigation pertaining to the cd tour. So I do not think it will happen.
