News: Alton Towers enacts noise-reduction

Posted at 5:38 PM EST (2238 GMT)

Apr. 1st, 2005 -- Today, Alton Towers took its first steps to lower the amount of noise it produces. The park lowered the volume of its sound system, but an Alton Towers spokesman said the lower volume would not be noticeable to park guests.

The noise reduction policy was initiated after a couple who lives 100 yards from the main entrance complained about the parks' noise, causing the park to be hit with a noise abatement notice. Major changes aimed at reducing the noise created by the rides themselves will not be enacted until the park appeals the decision in July.

I thought it was Oblivion, which was the major problem? I'm not quite sure how they're going to make that thing quieter.

To be honest, I think if they don't like the noise, they shouldn't be living in a house that close to the park.
