News: Lake Winnie celebrates 80 years of fun

Apr. 20th, 2005 -- The four new rides that are added to the lineup this season bring Lake Winnie's total to nearly 40 rides and attractions which entertain guests mainly from the Chattanooga and Middle Tennessee areas.

The park is adding a Wave Swinger as well as bringing in a larger Ferris Wheel than the park's previous version. They are also adding two kiddy rides to ensure new fun for everyone this season. The park also has improved other areas by adding a new food court, a new game and a lineup of country music concerts.

While all the new fun is exciting, the park still shines brightest with their oldest rides. The "homemade" Boat Chute, which the park claims is a precursor to the modern log flume ride, was built in 1927. The park also boasts an antique carousel built in 1916 and the park's most popular thrill ride, the Cannon Ball wooden coaster.
